Eligibility Criteria for FSSAI Registration

Based on the turnover limits and food capacity, the food business owner has to apply for FSSAI registration. Here is a complete list of eligibility criteria:

Any FBO with a maximum yearly revenue of ₹12 lakh

Small dealers offering food items

Individuals who independently produces or markets any food item

The person in charge of the temporary stand sells food

Types of FSSAI License
FSSAI State License

If the food business has an annual turnover between ₹12 lakhs and ₹20 crores, then the food business operator should apply for a state license.
FSSAI Central License

If the annual revenue of the food business is above ₹20 crore, then the food business owner should apply for a central license using Form B. This license is also required for food businesses with branches across India.

Apply FSSAI Registration Online
As per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, it is mandatory for all food business operators to complete FSSAI registration. A FSSAI license is mandatory for every food product business in India, and the food license number is provided post-registration. Irrespective of whether you are a retail, wholesaler, manufacturer, e-commerce seller, or involved in the distribution or transport of food products, FSSAI registration is mandatory.

How to Get a Food License in India - Process
Who is Required to Apply for FSSAI Registration?

As per the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, under Sections 31(1) and 31(2), FSSAI registration is mandatory for every food business operator in the country. Food manufacturers and food business operators should be licensed or registered under the food safety and standards authority of India. The registration process is also mandatory for pretty food manufacturers, Petty, retailers, itinerant vendors, temporary stall holders, and small-scale cottage industries with an annual turnover of up to ₹12 lakhs. Businesses with an annual income of more than ₹12 lakhs are required to apply for an FSSAI license.

Renewal and Validity of FSSAI License
​
Your FSSAI license is valid for a period of one to five years. Form A or Form B must be used to apply for the renewal of the food license (renewal of the FSSAI license) no later than thirty days after the present registration expires. If you apply after the deadline, you will be assessed a late fee of ₹100 for each day your application was delayed. When the food license expires, the business owner must cease all ongoing commercial activities on the property.
